Day six: 45 signs executive orders into being with all the fanfare of a reality TV star. He explains what he’s signing in vague, bombastic terms instead of helping the American public understand what’s going on.
He spent the signing of his formal Senate nominees laughing and joking about how unpopular many of them are, and needed confirmation that Betsy was his pick for Education.
By contrast, President Obama spent time while signing bills, executive orders, etc. putting the content into layman’s terms, sometimes even explaining the process by which the paperwork found its way to his desk. He often took time to thank Congress members, Senators, and other members of his staff for helping achieve their goals together.
I can’t find raw footage of any other Presidents signing paperwork, but based on the evidence I have available, this is not normal.
